An idea 70 years in the making, the TWIN elevator system is equipped with two separate traction drives which allow two cars to travel on the same set of rails, one above the other. TWIN allows you to eliminate an entire hoistway, saving on construction and maintenance costs. And because TWIN frees up space in the building, you get freedom in design. Need more building capacity? TWIN is the answer for many modernization projects.
The way TWIN works: Passenger destination and the direction of travel for both elevators are recorded at the start of all calls, and the destination control assigns the most suitable elevator to the call location. All calls are distributed to maintain minimum distances and eliminate interference between the cars.
The same handling capacity with 25% less shaft
The picture on the left shows a group with 4 elevators. On the right: The revolutionary solution with group of 5 elevators consisting of two TWIN systems and on conventional elevator. This means a significant increase of useable space, respectively saving of construction volume, or significantly increasing handling capacity.
