What Is Destination Dispatch?
Destination Dispatch takes into account each passenger's desired destination and dispatches the car that will provide the fastest trip time. Instead of pressing traditional "up" and "down" buttons to call an elevator, passengers use a touch screen or keypad to tell the system where they want to go before they enter the elevator. Knowing this information in advance, the control system is able to assign elevators to passengers with common destinations. The assigned elevator will then transport passengers to their desired floor in the most efficient manner by making the fewest possible stops. Touch screens or keypads can be housed in stand-alone columns or mounted in your custom cabinets to match the building's decor. ThyssenKrupp offers state-of-the-art touch screens with graphics and instructions that are easy to understand.

How Does Destination Dispatch Work While Modernizing?
The Overlay is designed to allow the use of Destination Dispatch during the modernization of the controllers. Before modernization begins, an Overlay is installed. The Overlay seamlessly dispatches information between the existing controllers and the Destination Dispatch system.
With the Destination Dispatch Overlay, you'll get the results up front.
Benefits of Overlay:
- Immediately improves traffic handling by as much as 30%.
- Minimizes traffic disruption during modernization.
- Allows for cost recapture at full modernization; the residual value of reused equipment can be as much as 80% for a 6 car group.
Upon completion of your elevator modernization, Destination Dispatch is integrated into your new system and Overlay is removed. Destination Dispatch can be configured to meet the particular needs of your building. With a "Full Destination Dispatch" configuration, every floor in the building is outfitted with touch screens or keypads, allowing passengers to specify their desired destination floors and eliminating standard hall fixtures. The traditional car call buttons are no longer needed for normal passenger service and can be concealed behind a locked panel.
If your building only has high-traffic conditions on a few floors, then Destination Dispatch can be applied in a "Up Peak Boost" configuration, where touch screens and or keypads are located only in high-traffic areas. The remaining floors will have traditional "up" and "down" push buttons. This boost configuration is a highly cost-effective means of providing this enhanced service to high-traffic floors.
