Our Americas Business Unit is taking important steps to ensure that our legacy is one of environmental protection, social welfare, and economic prosperity. This inaugural report is another step in our journey to improve and be accountable for our performance, as well as engage a conversation with the larger community of individuals with a stake in the success and sustainability of our organization.
At ThyssenKrupp Elevator, we are undertaking a journey, and are proud to share significant strides in our progress, as well as foundations for the future. The growth and success of the green building community may have introduced us to sustainability, but at ThyssenKrupp Elevator, LEED® was just the beginning. While preserving the natural resources upon which our society depends is an important facet of our sustainability goals, we are also committed to partnering with our communities and enhancing employee well-being. The safety of our employees and the communities in which they operate has been, and will remain, our top priority.
This report discusses these goals and our progress in the past year ranging from activities in our manufacturing facilities to reduce energy and waste, to initiating a review of our footprint in distribution, manufacturing, and service, to engaging employees through a regular eco-newsletter about news and tips for personal action, supporting their health and well-being, and gaining a more complete understanding of our practices against current best practices in corporate sustainability.Â
I'm proud of the work we're doing to make a difference. This is just the beginning for us, as ThyssenKrupp Elevator integrates sustainability as a way of life. We are committed to implementing solutions for continuous improvement that creates long-term value for our employees, customers, and other stakeholders.
